Tragedy struck in Telangana as Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Lasya Nanditha, affiliated with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), lost her life in a fatal car crash today. The 37-year-old legislator’s SUV collided with a road divider in Hyderabad, marking the second major accident she was involved in within a month.
Merely 10 days ago, Lasya Nanditha narrowly escaped another accident in Narkatpally, where her vehicle was struck by a drunk driver while en route to a rally addressed by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Although she survived with minor injuries, tragically, her home guard lost his life in the collision.
Today’s incident occurred when the driver of her Maruti XL6 lost control on the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad, crashing into a metal divider. Lasya Nanditha succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while her driver remains in critical condition, receiving treatment at a private hospital.
The untimely demise of the first-time legislator from Secunderabad Cantonment (SC) has sent shockwaves across the political landscape. Born in 1986 in Hyderabad, Lasya Nanditha entered politics nearly a decade ago, initially serving as a corporator in the Kavadiguda ward before her election as MLA in the 2023 Telangana assembly polls.
Political leaders, including Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, BRS chief, and state BJP president G Kishan Reddy, expressed their condolences over the tragic loss. Revanth Reddy, mourning the sudden demise, highlighted his close association with Lasya Nanditha’s late father, G Sayanna, recalling the unfortunate timing of their deaths within a span of one year.
Both accidents are under police investigation as authorities seek to ascertain the circumstances leading to these tragic events. Meanwhile, the Telangana political fraternity mourns the loss of a promising young leader, leaving behind a void that will be deeply felt in the state’s political landscape.
