A tragic explosion at South Glass Private Limited in Burgula village near Shadnagar town has claimed the lives of six people and left 15 others injured. The incident occurred on Friday evening when a compressor at the factory suddenly exploded, causing severe injuries to several workers.
Shamshabad’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, B Rajesh, who visited the site, described the aftermath as devastating, with the explosion causing extensive damage and mutilation of the victims’ bodies. The exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation, although initial reports indicate that the force of the blast was significant, scattering limbs and causing severe trauma to those present.
The victims, believed to be migrant laborers from states including Odisha, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, have yet to be formally identified. Immediate rescue efforts were launched by the Shadnagar police and fire department upon receiving the distress call. Fire tenders quickly extinguished the flames, preventing further destruction at the factory.
The injured were swiftly transported to Gandhi and Osmania Hospitals in Hyderabad for urgent medical attention, with reports indicating that five of them are in critical condition. Authorities are now focusing on assessing safety protocols at the factory, particularly in light of previous incidents in the area, to ascertain if adequate measures were in place to prevent such tragedies.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and directed officials to ensure that the injured receive prompt and effective medical treatment. District Collector K Shashanka, along with various department heads, has been instructed to coordinate relief efforts and provide necessary support to the affected families.
