
A devastating car accident on Saturday evening near Sardhar village in Gujarat’s Rajkot district claimed the lives of three people, left three others critically injured, and a three-year-old girl missing, police confirmed.
The incident occurred on the state highway connecting Rajkot to Bhavnagar when two four-wheelers collided head-on and subsequently caught fire. According to officials from Aji Dham police station, one of the vehicles involved had eight occupants. The force of the collision and the resulting blaze left both cars severely damaged.
“Three persons were charred to death on the spot, while three others sustained serious burn injuries and were rushed to Rajkot Civil Hospital for treatment,” said a police official.
The deceased have been identified as:
- Niruben Makwana, 35
- Himanshi Sarvaiya, 22
- Meet Sakariya, 12
A toddler, Hetavi Makwana, aged 3, is reported missing following the crash. Search efforts are currently underway to locate the child.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the collision and managed to rescue the injured despite the engulfing flames. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Authorities have initiated a probe to determine how the collision occurred and are also exploring whether speed, mechanical failure, or driver negligence played a role.
This tragic incident adds to a growing number of fatal road accidents in Gujarat, raising concerns over road safety and emergency preparedness on highways.
