In a devastating incident, a fire broke out in a commercial complex in Korba city, Chhattisgarh, resulting in the loss of three lives, including that of a woman. The incident took place on Monday, and authorities have been working diligently to investigate the cause and provide aid to those affected.
According to officials, the fire originated around 1:30 pm in a garment shop situated on the complex’s first floor. The complex houses 15 shops, with the ground floor hosting the branch office of Allahabad Bank. The fire quickly spread to other shops, creating a hazardous situation.
Prompt action was taken as soon as the authorities were informed. Firefighting teams, along with personnel from the police, home guard, and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation. Approximately 20 individuals were successfully rescued from inside the building, although two of them remain in critical condition.
Korba Collector Sanjeev Jha provided details about the incident, stating, “The complex has 15 shops and the office of the branch of Allahabad Bank on the ground floor. The fire engulfed other shops. As soon as we received information, firefighting teams reached the spot, and personnel belonging to police, home guard, and CISF launched the rescue operation.” The combined efforts of the rescue teams managed to bring the fire under control after approximately 45 minutes of intense firefighting.
Unfortunately, amidst the chaos, three individuals could not escape the blaze. A tailor and two customers, including a woman, who were present in the garment shop at the time of the fire, tragically lost their lives. The cause of the fire has been attributed to a short circuit in the garment shop.
Korba Collector Jha assured that a case has been registered, and a thorough investigation into the incident has commenced. The authorities will meticulously examine the circumstances surrounding the fire to determine any potential lapses or negligence.
