In a significant development in the high-profile Porsche car crash case, police have arrested two individuals in connection with the alleged swapping of blood samples related to the incident. The arrested duo includes the father of one of the two minors who were with the 17-year-old driver when the accident occurred.
The crash, which took place on May 19 in Kalyani Nagar, involved a speeding Porsche driven by a minor. The vehicle collided with two IT professionals on a motorbike, resulting in the deaths of both individuals. The 17-year-old driver, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was accompanied by two minors at the time of the incident.
According to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the arrested men, including the father of one of the minors, were involved in a scheme to swap the blood samples of the minors with those of the arrested individuals. This manipulation was intended to obscure the true identity of the people involved in the accident.
The arrests bring the total number of people detained in connection with the case to nine. The newly arrested individuals were presented in court on Tuesday and have been remanded to police custody until August 26.
The Porsche crash has been under intense scrutiny, with several individuals already arrested for their roles in the case. These include the driver’s parents and two doctors—Dr. Ajay Taware, former Head of Forensic Medicine, and Dr. Shrihari Halnor—as well as Atul Ghatkamble, a staff member at Sassoon Hospital. These individuals are accused of swapping the blood samples of the teen driver with those of his mother.
Additionally, Ashpak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad, who acted as intermediaries between the driver’s family and the doctors, were also arrested earlier for their involvement in facilitating financial transactions related to the blood sample swap.
