“Two Men in Noida Die of Suffocation as Unattended Stove Fills Room with Smoke”

Two Men Die of Suffocation in Noida After Chhole Left on Stove Overnight Fills Room with Smoke

Two young men tragically lost their lives due to suffocation after smoke from a pot of chhole left cooking on a stove overnight filled their poorly ventilated room in Noida’s Sector 70. The incident, which occurred early Saturday morning, highlights the risks of leaving stoves unattended.

Victims Identified as Food Cart Vendors

The deceased have been identified as Upendra (22) and Shivam (23), who worked as food cart vendors in the area, selling chhole kulche and bhatura. The two shared a rented accommodation in Basai village, described as a small and inadequately ventilated room.

    Neighbours Discover the Tragedy

According to locals, smoke was seen seeping from the men’s room early in the morning, prompting neighbors to investigate. Upon breaking down the door, they found Upendra and Shivam unconscious and rushed them to the district hospital in Sector 39, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

    Unattended Stove Suspected as Cause

Preliminary police investigations revealed that the men had left a pot of chhole cooking on a gas stove before going to sleep. The unattended stove burned through the night, causing the food to char and the room to fill with smoke and carbon monoxide.

“Initial investigation suggests that suffocation caused by the accumulation of smoke and carbon monoxide in the unventilated room led to their deaths,” a Noida Police official said.

    Post-Mortem Examination Pending

The bodies have been sent for autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death. Authorities noted there were no external injuries on either of the men. “The post-mortem will provide more clarity, but our initial findings indicate suffocation as the likely cause,” added the official.

    A Cautionary Tale

This heartbreaking incident underscores the dangers of leaving cooking appliances unattended, particularly in poorly ventilated spaces. Authorities have urged residents to ensure proper ventilation and avoid leaving stoves or other heating devices on while unattended.

    Condolences Pour In

The tragedy has left the local community in shock, with many expressing condolences for the young men who were known for their hardworking nature and humble demeanor.
