In a spirited call to action, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has urged that plantation drives be celebrated as festivals and that each plantation site should feature a garden named after a mother figure.
Speaking at a recent event in Sitapur district, Governor Patel emphasized the importance of not only planting saplings but also ensuring their survival and growth. “After planting a sapling, it has to be protected and nurtured. The plantation drive should be celebrated as a festival,” Patel stated. She highlighted the necessity of establishing gardens named after mothers at the sites of these drives as a tribute to their nurturing role.
Patel also underscored the significance of educating the younger generation about their responsibilities as India approaches the 100-year milestone of independence. She encouraged children to actively participate in and celebrate these initiatives, stressing that their involvement is crucial for the future of the nation’s green spaces.
On the occasion, Minister of State for Forest KP Malik joined Governor Patel in planting a sapling, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility and commitment to environmental conservation.
The governor’s remarks reflect a growing awareness of the need to integrate environmental sustainability with cultural and civic engagement, aiming to foster a deeper connection between people and nature.
