In a bizarre incident in Jaipur, Rajasthan, a man was arrested on Monday for driving his Mahindra Thar SUV onto a railway track while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The man, identified as a social media enthusiast, had taken his vehicle onto the tracks with the intention of shooting a reel for his social media account.
However, the situation took a dangerous turn when the SUV got stuck on the tracks as the man attempted to remove it after spotting an approaching goods train. Thanks to the quick reaction of the loco pilot, the train was stopped just in time, preventing a potentially fatal collision. No one was injured in the incident.
A video of the episode went viral on social media, showing the man trying to remove his vehicle from the tracks with the help of bystanders and police officials who had arrived at the scene. After several attempts to free the car, the man managed to reverse it by about 20 to 30 meters and fled the scene, reportedly hitting three people in the process.
Following a brief chase, police apprehended the driver and arrested him. The SUV was also seized as part of the investigation. Authorities have condemned the reckless behavior, emphasizing the serious risks posed by such actions, particularly when it comes to railway safety.
The man is now facing charges related to endangering public safety, driving under the influence, and causing harm to others.
