Watch: Mumbai Man Foils Fake Cop Scammer with Clever Puppy Trick

Mumbai Man Outsmarts Scammer Using Puppy in Hilarious Video Call Encounter

In a clever turn of events, a Mumbai man has managed to outwit a digital scammer posing as a police officer, using his puppy to completely baffle the fraudster. The hilarious moment was shared widely on social media, where it quickly went viral for its unique and amusing twist on an increasingly common scam.

The incident began when the scammer, pretending to be from the Andheri East police station in Mumbai, initiated a video call to the man, claiming that he was calling from the police department. The scammer demanded that the man show his face to the camera as part of what seemed to be an official inquiry. However, instead of complying with the scammer’s request, the Mumbai man decided to use his small puppy to respond.

“Yeh lijiye, sir. Aagya main camera ke saamne,” the man said, holding his puppy up to the camera. The scammer, who was expecting a typical response, was caught completely off guard. The man then continued mocking the scammer, saying, “Arey yeh raha main. Arey, thanedaar. Dikhraha hai? Arey nakli vardi,” laughing at the awkwardness of the situation.

Realizing he was being pranked, the scammer tried to recover by turning his face away from the camera and, eventually, disconnected the call in embarrassment. The video ended with a caption reading, “Pretend to be Mumbai Police. Scam call gone wrong.”

This kind of scam, known as the “digital arrest,” has become more prevalent, where fraudsters impersonate police officers to create a false sense of fear in their victims. They threaten to arrest or implicate individuals in fake investigations, coercing them to make payments to resolve the supposed case.

In recent weeks, there have been several similar incidents in India. Just a few days ago, a Japanese man living in Bengaluru was scammed out of Rs 35.5 lakh after cybercriminals, posing as Mumbai police officers, falsely accused him of involvement in money laundering. In another case, a techie in Bengaluru lost Rs 11.8 crore after fraudsters impersonating police officers claimed his Aadhaar details were being misused.

The hilarious and unexpected response from the Mumbai man serves as a lighthearted reminder of the importance of being cautious and aware of such scams. It also highlights how even in difficult situations, a bit of humor and quick thinking can turn the tables on those trying to take advantage of unsuspecting victims.
