A heartbreaking accident occurred in Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Ganeshnagar area on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the death of a three-year-old girl. The tragic incident unfolded around 4:30 p.m. when the metal gate of a housing society fell on the young child, Girija Shinde, while she was playing with her friends.
According to police officials, the incident happened at Bopkhel when a boy, trying to prevent Girija from entering a house, closed the sliding metal gate. Unfortunately, the gate, which weighed approximately 100 kg, came out of its sliding channel and toppled onto her.
A disturbing video of the accident circulated widely on social media, showing children rushing to alert residents and a man lifting the injured girl. Despite immediate efforts to rush Girija to a nearby hospital, she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Inspector Vijay Dhumal from Dighi Police Station confirmed the details, stating that an accidental death case has been registered. “The gate fell as Girija ran towards it, causing the fatal accident,” he said.
