In a tragic turn of events, a 19-year-old man named Prathamesh Bhokse passed away after consuming chicken shawarma bought from a stall in Mumbai. The incident unfolded in the Trombay area on May 3, leading to a series of hospital visits that unfortunately could not save his life.
Prathamesh experienced severe stomach ache and vomiting on May 4, prompting him to seek medical attention at a nearby municipal hospital. However, his symptoms persisted, and he was taken to the civic-run KEM Hospital on May 5. Despite an initial examination and treatment, his condition worsened, leading to his readmission the following day.
The hospital’s decision to admit Prathamesh came after his health deteriorated further, but sadly, his condition did not improve. Tragically, he succumbed to his illness on Monday, sparking an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The police promptly arrested two food vendors, identified as Anand Kamble and Ahmed Sheikh, following the incident. They are charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, highlighting the severity of the situation and the potential negligence involved in selling food items that led to such tragic consequences.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of food safety and the need for stringent measures to prevent incidents like this from occurring in the future. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of Prathamesh’s death and to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
