Billionaire industrialist Sajjan Jindal has vehemently denied the grave accusations of rape leveled against him by a 30-year-old model in Mumbai. Responding to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the woman, Jindal labeled the allegations as “false and baseless,” vowing complete cooperation with law enforcement agencies during the investigation.
The woman, identified through her social media profile as an actor, recounted her acquaintance with the 64-year-old businessman, stating their initial meeting occurred at a cricket match in Dubai a few years ago. Describing a subsequent friendship, she accused Jindal of sexually assaulting her in January 2022 within the premises of JSW Group’s headquarters in Mumbai, accompanied by promises of marriage.
The FIR, lodged on December 13 under sections 376 (rape), 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), signifies the gravity of the allegations brought against Jindal.
In response, Jindal released a personal statement contesting the claims, reiterating their falsity and baselessness. He pledged unwavering support to the ongoing investigation while urging respect for the privacy of his family. “He is committed to providing full cooperation throughout the investigation. As the investigation is ongoing, we will refrain from commenting further at this stage,” the statement read.
The woman detailed encounters preceding the alleged assault, citing meetings at prominent locations such as Jindal Mansion in south Mumbai and a drive, recounting Jindal’s purported avoidance following the incident.
She alleged that their interaction involved discussions about property dealings due to her brother’s profession as a real estate consultant in Dubai. However, discomfort arose as Jindal allegedly addressed her with intimate terms and shared personal details about his marital issues, causing unease during their initial meetings.
Expressing discomfort with Jindal’s advances, the woman claimed to have declined physical involvement until marriage. She recounted the alleged assault in January 2022, describing a threatening episode when Jindal purportedly warned of dire consequences if she approached the authorities before severing contact in June 2022.
As the case unfolds, the Mumbai Police will conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations and Jindal’s rebuttal. The accusations against the prominent industrialist have sparked widespread interest and concern, drawing attention to the complexities surrounding the matter.
