The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced that Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has been granted permission by the Tihar jail administration to meet her husband on Monday. This decision came after earlier accusations from the AAP against the jail administration for canceling Sunita Kejriwal’s meeting with Arvind Kejriwal, allegedly under pressure from the Modi government.
According to the AAP, Sunita Kejriwal’s meeting with the chief minister is scheduled for 12.30 pm and will be accompanied by Delhi cabinet minister Atishi. The party had previously criticized the denial of permission for the meeting, claiming that it was an act influenced by the Modi government and labeled it as inhumane.
However, Tihar jail officials clarified that permission had been granted to Delhi minister Atishi for a meeting on April 29, and arrangements had been made accordingly. They emphasized that Sunita Kejriwal has been meeting Kejriwal regularly, and there was no intention to deny her permission.
The AAP, while welcoming the approval for the meeting, demanded transparency in the decision-making process. They expressed concerns over the treatment of an elected chief minister and questioned the reasons behind initially denying permission for the meeting.
