Alleged Gangster Goldy Brar Declared ‘Terrorist’ Under UAPA by Indian Authorities

Alleged Gangster Goldy Brar Declared 'Terrorist' Under UAPA by Indian Authorities

The Ministry of Home Affairs recently announced the designation of Goldy Brar, a Canada-based individual also known as Satinderjit Singh, as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Brar has allegedly claimed responsibility for the audacious murder of Indian rap star and Congress politician Sidhu Moosewala, sparking concerns over his reported criminal activities.

Hailing from Canada and arriving there in 2017 on a student visa, Satinderjit Singh, aka Goldy Brar, stands accused of orchestrating a series of criminal acts, including extortion and murders, from his overseas base. Authorities also highlight his association with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, indicating a connection to organized crime.

According to an official notification from the Centre, Satwinder Singh, alias Goldy Brar, is linked to the pro-Khalistan terrorist group Babbar Khalsa. The notification accuses Brar of involvement in multiple killings, professing radical ideology, making threatening calls to pro-nationalist figures, and boasting about these acts on various social media platforms.

The Centre further alleges Brar’s role in smuggling high-grade arms, ammunition, and explosives via drones across the border, supplying these materials for violent activities. They assert that Brar’s intentions involve disrupting peace, communal harmony, and law and order in Punjab through sabotage, terror modules, targeted killings, and other anti-national activities.

Having issued a red-corner notice to INTERPOL last year, the Central Government is pushing to add Satwinder Singh, also known as Satinderjit Singh and Goldy Brar, to the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA, categorizing him as a terrorist.

Notably, Brar claimed responsibility for the 2022 murder of the singer in Punjab’s Mansa district. According to an extensive 1,850-page chargesheet filed in the Moose Wala murder case, Brar emerges as the alleged mastermind behind the killing. He purportedly avowed on social media that the murder was in retaliation for the killing of student leader Vicky Middukhera.

This declaration by the Ministry of Home Affairs underscores the gravity of Brar’s alleged criminal activities and their potential impact on national security, raising concerns about cross-border criminal networks and their implications for law enforcement and counterterrorism efforts.
