Bengaluru's Airport Terminal Praised as 'Most Unique' by Silicon Valley CEO

Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Terminal 2 (T2) has not only secured its place among the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Airports,’ but it’s now gaining accolades from a Silicon Valley Chief Executive Officer (CEO), further solidifying its global recognition.

The recently awarded ‘World Special Prize for an Interior 2023’ by UNESCO’s Prix Versailles has drawn attention to KIA’s T2. However, the praise from Alexis Rivas, co-founder and CEO of the US-based home design startup Cover, has added another layer of commendation for the airport’s architectural uniqueness.

Expressing admiration for the innovative design, Rivas took to X (formerly Twitter) to commend the creativity displayed in Bengaluru’s new airport terminal. “The new terminal 2 at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru is stunning at night and the most unique airport I’ve been to,” he posted, advocating for more inventive and daring approaches in airport architecture to create a lasting first impression.

In a conversation responding to a user’s suggestion to explore Berlin’s Brandenberg Airport, Rivas compared the two, favoring Bengaluru’s T2. He acknowledged the distinct formal style of Brandenberg but emphasized that it lacks the impactful impression that Bengaluru’s terminal delivers.

Rivas didn’t stop at praising the architecture; he also lauded India’s overall growth trajectory, highlighting the country’s impressive infrastructure expansion across major cities and its non-stop construction activities. Expressing optimism about India’s future, he advocated for a closer alliance between the United States and India, recognizing India’s energy, infrastructure development speed, and talent.

KIA’s Terminal 2 stands out not only for its design but also for its recognition by UNESCO. Spanning across 2,55,661 square meters, the terminal stands on four core principles: technological leadership, an integration of green spaces, environmental consciousness, and a tribute to Karnataka’s rich heritage.

The acclaim from a prominent industry figure like Rivas underlines the global significance of Bengaluru’s airport terminal, portraying it as a beacon of innovative design and a symbol of India’s ongoing progress and potential impact on a global scale.

As the sole Indian airport to receive such prestigious recognition from UNESCO, KIA’s Terminal 2 stands as a testament to India’s dedication to combining modernity with heritage, creating infrastructure that not only serves its purpose but also captivates the imagination of global observers.
