Delhi-Bound Trains Delayed as National Capital Grapples with Foggy Conditions

Weather-related challenges continue to disrupt travel in the national capital as twenty-two trains bound for Delhi experienced delays of up to six hours due to foggy conditions. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 8.2 degrees Celsius, slightly higher than the seasonal average.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a humidity level of 79 percent at 8:30 am, highlighting the prevailing moisture in the air. The IMD anticipates shallow to moderate fog persisting throughout the upcoming week, coupled with a possibility of cloudy skies and light rain on January 9.

Railway authorities attributed delays in 22 Delhi-bound trains to adverse weather conditions prevailing not only in Delhi but also across various states. The IMD’s forecast for Sunday includes a primarily clear sky with the likelihood of shallow fog in the morning.

The Air Quality Index (AQI), a measure of air pollution levels, stood at 341, categorized as ‘very poor’ at 10 am, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). An AQI falling within this range signifies air quality that can be detrimental to health, urging caution among residents. The scale ranges from ‘good’ (0-50) to ‘severe’ (401-500), with ‘very poor’ indicating significantly compromised air quality.

As fog continues to impact travel schedules and weather conditions persist, commuters and residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions while navigating through the city. The unpredictable weather patterns and air quality concerns emphasize the need for vigilance and preparedness during these conditions in the national capital.
