The recent breach in Parliament security on December 13 has stirred attention as the alleged key ‘handler,’ Lalit Mohan Jha, hailing from Rampur Uday village in Bihar’s Darbhanga district, finds himself at the center of the investigation. Jha’s arrest by Delhi Police late on Thursday intensified the spotlight on his family, prompting them to speak out about his character and background.
Delhi Police took Jha into custody after he reportedly presented himself at the Kartavya Path police station, having fled with the phones of all four suspects involved in the security breach.
Authorities dispatched a team to his ancestral village to delve into his family’s history. Upon arrival, they found Jha’s father, mother, and younger brother at their residence. His father, Devanand Jha, a priest residing in Burra Bazaar locality of Kolkata for four decades, recounted Lalit’s recent visit before the incident occurred.
Describing Lalit as cheerful and decent, Devanand Jha highlighted his son’s altruism, having donated blood three times. Lalit’s father clarified his lack of awareness about the situation due to not owning a smartphone and learned about his son’s arrest through a call from Delhi Police.
Expressing anguish, Lalit’s mother, Manjula Jha, vehemently defended her son’s character, asserting that he is a responsible citizen and even referred to him as a son of the country and Prime Minister Modi.
Locals attested to Lalit’s academic prowess from his early years, noting his scholastic achievements. After completing schooling till seventh grade in the village, Lalit accompanied his father to Kolkata in 2008.
Amid the unfolding circumstances, Lalit’s younger brother, Sonu Jha, emphasized that their family has no criminal history, underlining their shock and disbelief at the recent turn of events.
