A fire broke out in a high-rise building situated on Pali Hill’s Nargis Datta road on Wednesday evening, causing panic among residents of the posh Mumbai neighborhood. The incident occurred around 8 pm in a flat located on the 14th floor, with the fire quickly spreading to the kitchen and wooden furniture.
Fortunately, the blaze was swiftly brought under control, thanks to the prompt response of firefighting teams. By 9:34 pm, the flames were extinguished, and there were no reported injuries. Among the residents of the building is Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez, who emerged unharmed from the incident.
A source present at the scene confirmed the safety of all occupants, stating, “All the people are safe and fine.” Pali Hill, known for its celebrity residents such as Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Emraan Hashmi, is regarded as one of Mumbai’s most coveted addresses.
According to SK Bangdar, the additional fire officer, the fire was contained within the affected flat, which was unoccupied at the time of the incident. The building’s fire fighting system played a crucial role in suppressing the flames, utilizing high-pressure first-aid lines and small hose lines from motor pumps.
Residents described the building as relatively new, with occupancy increasing over the past year. Advocate Trivankumar Karnani, founder of MNCDF, emphasized its status as one of the most prestigious addresses in the area, attracting actors and investors as residents.
While the immediate threat has been averted, investigations into the cause of the fire are set to commence on Thursday. Despite the scare, residents expressed gratitude for the functionality of the building’s fire safety systems, which prevented the fire from spreading further and causing more extensive damage.
