Kashmiri entrepreneur Nazim Nazir, owner of Al Nahal Honey, recently gained national attention after Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended his entrepreneurial journey during a Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir event. PM Modi, who posted a selfie with Nazim on social media, praised him as a ‘friend’ and expressed admiration for his work.
Nazim’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2018 when he ventured into beekeeping while still in the 10th standard. Starting with just two boxes of bees, his passion for beekeeping grew as he researched the field online. With determination and perseverance, Nazim expanded his beekeeping enterprise, eventually scaling up to 25 boxes of bees with the help of a government subsidy obtained in 2019.
By 2020, Nazim’s business flourished further as he received support from the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), enabling him to establish his own website and expand his operations. His brand gained recognition, leading to the sale of 5,000kg of honey by 2023, with around 100 people now working with him.
During his interaction with PM Modi, Nazim shared insights into his entrepreneurial journey, highlighting the challenges and successes he encountered along the way. PM Modi lauded Nazim’s innovative approach, describing him as a leader of Kashmir’s ‘sweet revolution’ and acknowledging the importance of his work in supporting local farmers.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to interact with PM Modi, Nazim emphasized the importance of perseverance and hard work in achieving success as an entrepreneur. He encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to start small and leverage government schemes to realize their business dreams.
