In anticipation of the “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony scheduled for January 22, 2024, at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar has issued an order to close all liquor shops across the district on that day. The decision follows instructions from the state government, aiming to observe the sacred occasion with reverence.

District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma confirmed the directive, stating, “After receiving instruction from the state government over closing the liquor shop, it has been decided that all the liquor shops will remain closed on the pran pratishtha ceremony.” The order, executed under Section 59 of the Excise Act, empowers the district magistrate to close liquor shops for a specified time to maintain peace.

The official order reads, “On January 22, 2024, the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya will take place. In view of the above, it has been decided that on January 22, all the liquor shops, bars, department stores, etc. in the district will remain closed.” The directive emphasizes that strict action will be taken against any violation of the closure order.

This move reflects the administration’s commitment to honoring the religious ceremony and ensuring a peaceful and respectful atmosphere on this significant day. The decision to suspend liquor sales aligns with efforts to maintain decorum and sanctity during the Ayodhya temple consecration, a momentous occasion for millions of people across the country.
