“Haldwani Violence: CM Dhami Vows New Police Station on Cleared Land”

Uttarakhand CM Announces Police Station Construction in Haldwani Amidst Land Clearance After Violent Clashes

In response to the recent outbreak of violence in Haldwani’s Banbhoolpura area, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has declared plans to erect a police station on the recently cleared land. This decision follows the demolition of an allegedly illegal madrasa, an action that ignited tensions and led to clashes resulting in casualties.

The violence, which unfolded on February 8th, resulted in the loss of six lives, including five individuals purportedly involved in the rioting. Furthermore, over 60 individuals sustained injuries during the clashes, highlighting the severity of the situation.

CM Dhami emphasized the government’s stance against those who disrupt the peace of the state, declaring, “This is a clear message from our government to the miscreants and rioters that no one who plays with the peace of Devbhoomi will be spared; there is no room for such miscreants in Uttarakhand.”

The recent turmoil stemmed from the demolition of an illegal structure where namaz was conducted, leading to widespread unrest in the area. However, CM Dhami reiterated the administration’s commitment to upholding the law and order of the region.

In addition to the loss of lives and injuries, the clashes also resulted in the release of several acres of land from encroachment, a significant development stemming from the demolition efforts.

Law enforcement agencies have been swift in their response, with 30 arrests made thus far on charges related to inciting violence during the demolition drive. Uttarakhand’s Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar addressed the situation, stating that police personnel were attacked by a mob while supporting the anti-encroachment drive. He asserted that the police acted in self-defense and stressed the impartiality of their actions in accordance with the law.

Moving forward, the construction of a police station on the cleared land signifies the government’s proactive approach to maintaining law and order in the region. CM Dhami’s announcement serves as a stern warning to potential troublemakers, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to preserving peace and tranquility in Uttarakhand.

As investigations into the violent clashes continue, authorities remain focused on ensuring justice for the victims while upholding the rule of law without bias.
