“Heavy Rains Expected to Batter Kerala: IMD Issues Orange Alert in 3 Districts”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for three districts in Kerala as the monsoon is expected to intensify further, bringing heavy rainfall to the state. Additionally, a yellow warning has been sounded in nine other districts.

The three districts placed on an orange alert are Idukki, Kannur, and Kasargod. According to the IMD, these areas are likely to experience heavy downpours in the coming days. Furthermore, a yellow alert has been issued for Monday in nine districts across Kerala.

The forecast of heavy rains is attributed to a cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. Additionally, an offshore trough extending towards Kerala is expected to contribute to the heavy rainfall in the region. The IMD predicts widespread rain until Thursday.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has now covered the entire country, including the remaining parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana, according to the India Meteorological Department.

The Met department has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next five days in several states, including Maharashtra, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and others.

The IMD’s alerts and forecasts are crucial for authorities and residents to take necessary precautions in order to mitigate the impact of heavy rains and potential flooding. People living in the affected districts are advised to stay informed about weather updates and follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities.

Heavy rainfall during the monsoon season is not uncommon in Kerala, but it is important to remain vigilant and prepared for any adverse weather conditions that may arise. Proper measures should be taken to ensure the safety of individuals and the protection of property.

As the monsoon continues to progress across the country, it is crucial for residents and authorities in the affected regions to remain cautious and take appropriate steps to minimize any potential damage caused by heavy rains. Regular updates from the IMD will provide valuable information to help communities stay safe and prepared during this monsoon season.
