A heartbreaking incident has shaken Hyderabad as 28-year-old Laxmi Narayana Vinjam tragically passed away during a “smile-enhancement” surgery just weeks before his wedding. The surgery, intended to enhance his smile, took a fatal turn at the FMS International Dental Clinic in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills on February 16.
According to reports, Laxmi Narayana Vinjam underwent the ‘smile designing’ procedure at the dental clinic, but unfortunately, complications arose during the surgery, leading to his untimely demise. Allegations have surfaced regarding the cause of death, with Laxmi Narayana’s father, Ramulu Vinjam, claiming that his son died due to an anesthesia overdose.
Ramulu Vinjam recounted the tragic sequence of events, stating that the clinic staff contacted him after his son fainted during the surgery. Rushing to the clinic, they then transferred Laxmi Narayana to a nearby hospital, where doctors, despite their efforts, declared him dead upon arrival. The grieving father emphasized that his son had not disclosed the surgery to them and held the doctors accountable for the tragic outcome, asserting that Laxmi Narayana had no pre-existing health issues.
K Venkateshwar Reddy, Station House Officer of Jubilee Hills, provided further details of the incident, stating that Laxmi Narayana arrived at the clinic around 2:30 pm on February 16. The surgical procedure commenced at approximately 4:30 pm and lasted for nearly two hours. However, complications arose during the surgery, prompting the clinic staff to notify Laxmi Narayana’s family and rush him to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills. Despite their efforts, he could not be revived upon arrival.
The tragic incident has sparked legal action, with a case of negligence filed against the clinic following a complaint from Laxmi Narayana’s family. Officials have initiated an investigation, reviewing hospital records and security camera footage to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
FMS International Dental Clinic, where the surgery took place, has come under scrutiny in the wake of the incident. Despite the clinic’s claims of being one of the most awarded dental clinics in India since 2017, the tragic outcome has raised questions regarding patient safety and the standard of care provided.
