"ISKCON Issues ₹100-Crore Defamation Notice to BJP's Maneka Gandhi Over Cowsheds Controversy"

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has taken legal action by serving a ₹100-crore defamation notice to BJP Member of Parliament Maneka Gandhi. This move comes in response to accusations made by Maneka Gandhi regarding ISKCON’s care of cows in its gaushalas (cowsheds).

The controversy arose after an undated video featuring the former central minister surfaced online, wherein she could be heard making allegations against ISKCON’s management of cows. In light of these allegations, ISKCON has vehemently defended its reputation and integrity.

ISKCON’s Vice-President, Radharamn Das, announced, “Today, we have sent a ₹100-crore defamation notice to Maneka Gandhi for leveling completely unfounded allegations against ISKCON.” He further expressed the deep concern and distress felt by the worldwide community of ISKCON devotees, supporters, and well-wishers in response to these “malicious accusations.”

The allegations made in the video have ignited a heated debate about the treatment and care of cows in gaushalas, and ISKCON, as an organization known for its reverence towards cows, has been swift in taking legal recourse to protect its reputation.

As the matter unfolds, it underscores the importance of responsible communication and the consequences of making unfounded accusations in the age of viral content and social media. The legal proceedings will shed light on the veracity of the claims and determine the course of action to address the concerns raised by Maneka Gandhi’s statements.

The ₹100-crore defamation notice reflects ISKCON’s determination to safeguard its reputation and uphold its commitment to the welfare of cows in its gaushalas. This development also serves as a reminder of the significance of accurate and responsible discourse in matters of public interest.
