Kamal Nath Set to Meet BJP Leadership in Delhi Amid Speculation Over Party Switch

Amid mounting speculation surrounding his potential defection to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath is scheduled to meet with the ruling party’s leadership in Delhi, according to sources cited by NDTV. The meeting is anticipated to occur tonight, following Kamal Nath’s arrival in the national capital earlier today.

Rumors of Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath’s departure from the Congress have been circulating in recent days, gaining momentum as Nakul Nath, the lone Congress MP from Madhya Pradesh, removed the party’s name from his social media bio and Kamal Nath made his way to Delhi.

Earlier this month, Nakul Nath took a decisive step by declaring himself as the candidate for the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat, which he had previously won in 2019, without awaiting an official nomination from the Congress.

Sources have indicated to NDTV that while it remains undecided whether Kamal Nath will formally join the BJP or simply leave the Congress, Nakul Nath is likely to secure the BJP ticket for the Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency. Modalities for his entry into the party are reportedly being finalized.

When questioned by reporters about the possibility of joining the BJP upon his arrival in Delhi, Kamal Nath provided a non-committal response, neither confirming nor denying the speculation. However, he emphasized that if such a move were indeed in the works, he would be the first to inform the public.

Reacting to the rumors, Jitu Patwari, who succeeded Kamal Nath as the Madhya Pradesh Congress President following the party’s electoral setback last year, vehemently denied the reports, asserting that they were unfounded. He underscored the loyalty of party workers to Kamal Nath’s leadership and dismissed any notions of discontent within the ranks.

Furthermore, Patwari refuted claims that Kamal Nath’s purported dissatisfaction stemmed from not being nominated for the Rajya Sabha polls, asserting that it was Kamal Nath himself who proposed Ashok Singh’s nomination.

As the political landscape in Madhya Pradesh remains fluid, all eyes are on Kamal Nath’s forthcoming meeting with the BJP leadership, which could potentially reshape the state’s political dynamics in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections.
