Following the tragic firecracker shop accident in Attibele that resulted in the loss of 14 lives, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that the case will be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation. He also highlighted that the cracker store did not possess a valid license to operate and assured action against all those involved.
The Chief Minister made this announcement after visiting the accident site, where he expressed his deep concern over the lack of basic safety measures in the storage of firecrackers. He stated, “The owners have violated all the rules which led to the death of 14 people. Four people were severely injured and are being treated at the hospital.”
Accompanied by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, CM Siddaramaiah further condoled the loss of lives in the tragic incident. On social media platforms, he expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased workers.
The Karnataka government has also taken swift action by announcing a compensation of ₹5 lakh each to the families of the victims of this major fire incident.
The tragedy unfolded when a massive fire broke out in a firecracker shop located alongside a highway in Attibele on a Saturday evening. The fire rapidly spread to an adjacent warehouse, intensifying the flames. Along with the loss of 14 lives, seven two-wheelers, a container lorry, and three other vehicles were engulfed by the inferno.
