In a recent development, Karnataka police have detained a man from Haveri district in connection with the controversial “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans raised at the Vidhana Soudha. The individual, identified as a dry chilli trader from Byadagi town, was apprehended after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night during celebrations for Congress leader Syed Naseer Hussain’s victory in the Rajya Sabha election, sparked widespread condemnation and a political uproar. Following the dissemination of the video, the Vidhana Soudha police initiated a suo moto case and began questioning individuals suspected of involvement in the slogans.

According to reports, law enforcement authorities detained the chilli trader based on a voice sample analysis, linking him to the alleged anti-national slogans. Currently, the detained individual is undergoing interrogation in Bengaluru as part of the ongoing investigation.

The incident has escalated into a political controversy, with both the ruling Congress party and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) trading barbs over the matter. BJP leaders have called for a thorough investigation by national agencies such as the NIA (National Investigation Agency) and IB (Intelligence Bureau), emphasizing the need to uphold constitutional values and ensure strict adherence to the law.

Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured that the government is taking the matter seriously and vowed to take strict action against the perpetrators. “The government has taken the issue seriously. We need not learn patriotism from you. In accordance with the law, seven people have been subjected to inquiry, and their statements have been recorded. Investigation is ongoing. An FIR was registered suo moto. If the government was not serious, we would not have booked a suo moto case,” stated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The detention of the dry chilli trader underscores the gravity of the situation and highlights the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order and upholding constitutional principles. As the investigation progresses, stakeholders await further developments and hope for swift justice in this matter.
