“Kedarnath Temple Implements Photography Ban; Violators to Face Legal Action”

Photography Prohibited Inside Kedarnath Temple; Violators to Face Legal Consequences

Kedarnath, Uttarakhand – The Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has announced a complete ban on photography and videography inside the revered Kedarnath Temple premises. The decision comes in response to recent incidents, including a viral video of a girl proposing to her boyfriend near the temple, which triggered a debate and raised concerns about maintaining the sanctity of the holy site.

President of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, Ajay Ajendra, stated that visitors to the Kedarnath Dham have been urged to dress modestly, and the committee has taken steps to ensure compliance with these guidelines. Warning boards have been prominently displayed throughout the temple premises, cautioning visitors against taking pictures or recording videos. The boards emphasize that CCTV cameras are monitoring the area and legal action will be taken against violators.

“Pilgrims to Kedarnath have been urged to dress modestly. In the past, some pilgrims had been caught filming and taking photos indecently inside the temple,” Ajay Ajendra explained.

The decision to enforce the ban on photography and videography stems from the concern that indecent behavior by certain individuals has conveyed an inappropriate message and compromised the sanctity of the religious site. To uphold the sacredness of the temple, warning boards have been installed, and the temple committee expects strict adherence to the guidelines.

Earlier this month, a video of a girl proposing to her boyfriend near the Kedarnath temple went viral on social media, sparking a debate among internet users. In response to the incident, the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee wrote to the Kedarnath Dham Police, urging them to monitor the temple’s vicinity and take action against individuals creating videos for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and other social media outlets.

The committee strongly believes that creating such videos or reels within the temple premises can have a negative impact on the religious sanctity of the place. To maintain the purity and reverence associated with Kedarnath, the temple committee has called upon the police to take appropriate measures against those involved in making such videos.

The ban on photography and videography inside the Kedarnath Temple premises serves as a reminder to visitors and pilgrims to uphold the spiritual significance of the holy site. It reinforces the importance of respecting the sanctity of the temple and encourages responsible behavior during visits to preserve the sacred atmosphere for all devotees.
