In a significant development on the political front, Congress leader Ashok Chavan announced on Saturday that the logo of the newly formed Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) is likely to be unveiled on August 31. The occasion will coincide with the alliance’s third joint meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Mumbai. The gathering is expected to witness the participation of around 26 to 27 opposition parties.

Chavan addressed a press conference, revealing the upcoming plans of the alliance. He stated, “Around 26 to 27 parties will participate in the meeting. An informal gathering will be held on the evening of August 31 in Mumbai, followed by a formal meeting on September 1. In this third meeting, we will discuss the next agenda. We are also deciding to create a common logo, which may be unveiled on August 31.”

The alliance’s previous meetings were held in Patna, Bihar, and Bengaluru, Karnataka. These gatherings marked the initiation of discussions and strategic planning among the participating parties. The INDIA alliance was formed by 26 opposition parties last month, with a shared aim to collectively challenge the ruling BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The newly formed alliance released a declaration titled ‘Samuhik Sankalp,’ which covers a wide range of topics including caste census, Manipur violence, the role of Governors and LGs, and the impact of demonetization. The alliance’s formation has created anticipation in the political landscape, with the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asserting that the electoral contest will be “between INDIA and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

It was earlier clarified by party leader PL Punia that the alliance will reveal the candidate for the prime ministerial post after securing a resounding victory in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. “INDIA alliance has decided that the prime minister will be decided after coming to power. The elected MPs will choose the PM,” stated the Congress leader.

The 26 parties constituting the INDIA alliance include Congress, TMC, DMK, AAP, JD(U), RJD, JMM, NCP, Shiv Sena, SP, NC, PDP, CPI(M), CPI, RLD, MDMK, Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi (KMDK), VCK, RSP, CPI-ML (Liberation), Forward Bloc, IUML, Kerala Congress (Joseph), Kerala Congress (Mani), Apna Dal (Kamerawadi), and the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK).

As the INDIA alliance gears up for its next joint meeting and logo unveiling, political analysts are closely observing the developments to gauge its impact on the electoral narrative and strategies.
