Hyderabad police arrested a man for allegedly firing two rounds in the air during an altercation at the Dawat-e-Ramzan exhibition, organized by Anam Mirza, sister of Indian tennis player Sania Mirza. The incident took place on Saturday, March 29, at King’s Palace in Hyderabad.
Altercation Leads to Gunfire
According to police, the dispute started between two stall owners—a perfume shop owner and a toy shop owner. However, the accused, identified as Hassebuddin alias Hyder, was reportedly not related to either party but still intervened and fired two shots into the air using his licensed pistol.
Inspector of Gudimalkapur police station confirmed the incident, stating, “A small fight broke out at the Dawat-e-Ramzan exhibition between the perfume shop and toy shop owners, and it was later settled. However, the accused, Hassebuddin, unnecessarily fired two rounds in the air.”
Upon receiving reports of the gunfire, police rushed to the scene, arrested the accused, and seized his weapon. A case has been registered under the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway.
About the Accused
Hassebuddin, a former sarpanch and resident of AC Guards Paramount Colony, reportedly owned a licensed firearm issued from Nampally. Authorities are now investigating the motive behind his actions.

Hyderabad hosts several exhibitions and food festivals during the holy month of Ramzan, with Anam Mirza’s Dawat-e-Ramzan being one of the most prominent. The expo featured over 400 retail stalls and 60 food brands, attracting over 250,000 visitors in just 11 days. Additionally, the event provided employment to over 3,000 people.
Anam Mirza, a fashion curator since 2012 and a YouTuber, has been organizing the Dawat-e-Ramzan and District Bazaar expo in Hyderabad, making it a key event during the festive season.
