    In a recent incident involving IndiGo’s 6E-221 flight from Bengaluru to Ranchi, a passenger has come forward alleging that the airline failed to fulfill promises of hotel accommodations after the flight was diverted to Kolkata, leading to forced deboarding of passengers.

    Vikram Srivastava, a passenger on the flight, took to social media platform X to share the ordeal, claiming that IndiGo “refused to make arrangements” following the diversion, and promises of a hotel stay were falsely made. He expressed his frustration, questioning the airline’s handling of the situation and emphasizing the plight of pregnant women, elderly travelers, and others left stranded without proper assistance.

    In response to the passenger’s claims, IndiGo issued a statement, asserting that all affected passengers were offered meals and provided with the option of either a refund or an alternative flight. The airline cited bad weather at the intended destination, Ranchi, as the reason for the diversion to Kolkata.

    “The flight was diverted to Kolkata due to bad weather at Ranchi, and passengers were given the option of choosing another flight or receiving a refund. While some opted for another flight, others chose a refund. Additionally, all passengers were served meals at the Kolkata airport,” an IndiGo official stated, according to PTI.

    Vikram Srivastava shared a video from Kolkata Airport, capturing the frustration and dissatisfaction among passengers as they sought answers from the airline’s ground staff regarding accommodation arrangements. He urged authorities to penalize IndiGo for what he deemed a “disgraceful illegal deporting of passengers at a 3rd location and providing zero assistance.”

    The incident highlights the challenges faced by passengers in such situations and raises questions about the responsibilities of airlines in ensuring the well-being and convenience of travelers during unexpected disruptions. As the issue gains attention, passengers’ voices and concerns are reverberating across social media platforms, prompting discussions on the accountability of airlines in such scenarios.
