PM Modi Shares Diwali Spirit with Soldiers in Himachal's Lepcha, Reflects on India's Defence Achievements

Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his tradition of spending Diwali with the armed forces, this time interacting with Indian Army soldiers in Lepcha, Himachal Pradesh. Expressing deep emotion and pride, Modi conveyed Diwali greetings to the nation and shared photographs of the heartwarming moments, including offering sweets to the soldiers.

During the interaction, PM Modi reflected on the significance of being with security forces on Diwali, stating that for him, a place where these forces are deployed is no less than a temple. He emphasized his long-standing tradition of celebrating the festival with the troops, even before becoming the Prime Minister or Chief Minister.

In a social media post, Modi expressed the profound experience of spending Diwali with the brave security forces away from their families. He acknowledged their dedication and sacrifice, describing them as the guardians who illuminate the nation with their commitment.

The Prime Minister lauded the security forces for their contribution to nation-building and highlighted India’s defence achievements. He mentioned that between Diwali in 2016 and now, the country’s defence exports have risen eightfold, reaching ₹1 lakh crore in domestic defence production.

During his speech, Modi recognized the bravery and resilience of the soldiers, stating that India is safe as long as they stand on its borders like the unflinching Himalayas. He also commended the efforts to grant permanent commissions to women officers in the Indian Army, noting the rise of women pilots flying fighter planes like Rafale.

Since assuming office in 2014, PM Modi has made it a tradition to celebrate Diwali with the armed forces. From Siachen Glacier in 2014 to Kargil in 2022, each year has seen him visiting military facilities and expressing gratitude to the soldiers for their service to the nation.
