“PM Modi Chairs Meeting on Manipur Situation Post US, Egypt Visits”

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a crucial meeting on Monday to discuss the situation in Manipur, shortly after his return from official visits to the United States and Egypt. The meeting provided an overview of the all-party meeting led by Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, where key developments were discussed.

The meeting, attended by senior ministers including Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Hardeep Singh Puri, aimed to address the ongoing crisis in Manipur. The state has witnessed widespread violence and ethnic clashes for over 50 days, leading to loss of lives, injuries, and significant disruptions to the lives of its residents.

The Opposition has strongly criticized the BJP-led central and state governments for their alleged failure in handling the situation effectively. The Congress party, in particular, intensified its attack, calling for the removal of Chief Minister Biren Singh. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated, “Reports indicate that finally the Home Minister has spoken to Prime Minister Shri Modi on Manipur. For the last 55 days, Modi ji did not say a word on Manipur. Every Indian is waiting for him to speak. If Modi ji is really concerned about Manipur, then the first thing he should do is to sack his Chief Minister.”

During the all-party meeting on Saturday, the opposition parties united in their demand for the Chief Minister’s dismissal and urged the central government to set a specific timeframe for resolving the situation in Manipur and restoring peace and normalcy.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) defended its stance, asserting that the Prime Minister has been closely monitoring the situation in Manipur and that steps are being taken as per his guidance. Sambit Patra, BJP’s in-charge for Manipur, stated, “Efforts to restore peace in the state are being taken on the instructions of the PM.”

The high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Manipur. By convening these discussions and receiving regular updates, the government aims to devise effective strategies to restore peace and stability in the region.

The situation in Manipur has garnered significant attention and concern, with citizens eagerly awaiting the Prime Minister’s response. The government’s proactive engagement and commitment to finding a resolution demonstrate its dedication to maintaining peace, promoting harmony, and safeguarding the interests of the people.

As the discussions continue, it is anticipated that concrete steps will be taken to address the issues in Manipur, ensuring the restoration of normalcy and the well-being of its residents.
