Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a new full form of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) during a leaders’ meeting in Delhi, naming it “New India, Developed Nation, Aspiration of People of India.” This announcement came shortly after the opposition alliance introduced itself as INDIA – Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance. PM Modi paid tribute to former NDA leaders and emphasized the coalition’s focus on the nation’s welfare and progress.
Addressing the NDA leaders, PM Modi hailed the alliance as a diverse and inclusive coalition of regional aspirations, working towards the development of the nation through the development of individual states. He stated, “At a time when we are striving for a developed India, NDA takes the lead in embodying the spirit of ‘sabka prayas’ (collective efforts for all).”
In his speech, PM Modi also criticized opposition alliances that are formed based on power compulsions, driven by dynastic politics, casteism, and regionalism. He highlighted the detrimental impact such alliances have on the country’s stability and progress.
Referring to the Congress party’s actions in the 1990s, PM Modi recalled their strategy of forming alliances to create instability, resulting in frequent changes in governments. In contrast, he emphasized that the formation of NDA in 1998 was driven by the objective of bringing stability to the country rather than removing anyone from power.
PM Modi further stated, “Even when we were in the opposition, we engaged in constructive politics and refrained from indulging in negative politics. We highlighted the government’s scams, but we never disrespected the electoral mandate. We never sought foreign help to oppose the government.”
The introduction of the new full form for NDA reflects PM Modi’s vision of a “New India,” which encompasses the nation’s development as a developed country and fulfills the aspirations of its people. The coalition’s core values include placing the nation’s interests first, prioritizing security, progress, and the empowerment of its citizens.
