“Security Alert at Mangaluru Airport Following Terrorist Group Email Threat”

Bomb Threat Email Prompts Search Operation at Mangaluru Airport; No Explosives Found

Massive security operation initiated after threat email from self-proclaimed group ‘Funing’

Mangaluru International Airport authorities launched a thorough search operation following a menacing email received on Wednesday, claiming the placement of bombs inside an aircraft and the airport premises. The threat, attributed to a self-professed terrorist group named ‘Funing,’ triggered a heightened security response across multiple airports nationwide, citing the imminent detonation of explosives hidden within the mentioned locations.

The threatening message declared affiliation with the “terrorist group called Funing” and vowed harm upon the airport and its occupants.

Upon the discovery of the email, airport authorities promptly alerted the Mangaluru Police, prompting an extensive search operation within the airport’s vicinity. Despite meticulous combing efforts, law enforcement agencies found no evidence of any explosives or threats materializing.

Mangalore Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal confirmed the bolstering of security measures around the airport premises, establishing additional checkpoints and intensifying anti-sabotage and bomb checks to ensure the safety of the area.

A formal police complaint has been registered in response to the incident, reflecting the seriousness with which law enforcement is treating the threat.

This unsettling event echoes a recent series of hoax threats, such as the false bomb scares at Bengaluru schools earlier this month. Despite evacuating students and conducting extensive searches, authorities found no substantiation to the emailed threats.

The assurance that the email threats were baseless provided a semblance of relief, but it highlights the necessity for stringent security measures and swift response protocols in the face of such threats.
