A shocking incident unfolded as Suchana Seth, the co-founder and CEO of the artificial intelligence start-up Mindful AI Lab, was arrested in Karnataka’s Chitradurga. She was apprehended with the body of her four-year-old son, following an alleged murder in Goa. Seth has been remanded in police custody for six days.
The distressing episode began when Seth, a 39-year-old Bengaluru-based start-up founder, reportedly killed her young son in an apartment situated in north Goa’s Candolim. The motive behind the harrowing crime remains undisclosed, although authorities suspect her troubled relationship with her estranged husband, Venkat Raman, as a potential factor.
Seth, a native of West Bengal, had checked into the Sol Banyan Grande in Candolim along with her son while her husband, an AI developer working in Indonesia, was away. Upon checking out of the hotel on Monday without her son, suspicions arose among the staff. Further investigation revealed unsettling details, including bloodstains in the apartment Seth had occupied.
Goa police swiftly intervened upon being alerted by the hotel staff about the missing child and suspicious circumstances. Seth initially claimed her son was with a friend, providing a falsified address when questioned. Subsequently, when directed by the Goa police, the taxi driver, conversing in Konkani to ensure discretion, rerouted to Chitradurga police station.
Following police instructions, the cab diversion led to Seth’s arrest in Chitradurga, where her son’s lifeless body was found inside a bag in her possession. Seth’s husband has been summoned to return to India for interrogation by the authorities.
After being brought back to Goa for further questioning and legal proceedings, Seth appeared before the court and was remanded to police custody for six days.
