After a daunting 10-day ordeal, the first visuals of the 41 workers trapped in a Uttarakhand tunnel emerged early today, providing a glimmer of hope amidst ongoing rescue efforts. The workers, stuck since November 12 after a tunnel collapse, were seen in their gear, waving to a camera inserted through a six-inch pipe.
The trapped laborers, sporting thick beards, indicated their well-being while communication efforts through Walkie Talkies were initiated by rescue officials. A camera sent food earlier, and the workers received their first hot meal in glass bottles through the same pipe last night.
Rescuers continue their relentless efforts, facing challenges due to terrain and rock nature. A five-option action plan, involving drilling from multiple sides, is underway. Various agencies, including NDRF, SDRF, BRO, and ITBP, are part of the ongoing 24/7 rescue operations.
