“Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Honors Soldiers and Conducts Shashtra Puja in Arunachal Pradesh”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Pays Tribute to Soldiers and Performs Shashtra Puja in Arunachal

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is on a two-day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, paid his respects to the brave soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. During his visit, he attended a wreath-laying ceremony and spoke to the media. The Defence Minister also expressed his appreciation for the soldiers’ unwavering commitment to protecting the nation’s borders.

Rajnath Singh’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh included a poignant visit to the Tawang War Memorial, where he paid homage to the fallen soldiers. He lauded the soldiers for their dedication in safeguarding the borders, acknowledging the challenges they face daily. He conveyed his pride in the soldiers and emphasized the importance of their uniform in maintaining India’s security.

Addressing the troops, Rajnath Singh stated, “The tough situation in which you are shouldering the responsibility of guarding the country’s borders – we can’t appreciate it enough. I would like to tell you that the countrymen are proud of you. All of you know the importance of your uniform.” He further emphasized the role of these dedicated soldiers in elevating India’s stature on the global stage, citing significant economic developments under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

During his visit to the strategically vital Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh, Rajnath Singh engaged with the security personnel, gaining insights into the security challenges and preparedness in the region. As part of his visit, he also performed the traditional Shashtra Puja, underscoring the significance of this ritual in honoring weaponry.

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande accompanied the Defence Minister during this crucial visit, underscoring the seriousness of the situation in the region.

The Tawang sector, located in Arunachal Pradesh, has experienced instances of transgressions from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Rajnath Singh had previously visited the sector to review security preparedness, particularly in the wake of a significant transgression last year. During that incident, PLA troops had attempted to cross the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector, leading to a physical altercation and minor injuries on both sides. The Defence Minister informed Parliament of the Indian troops’ resolute response, which prevented any change in the status quo.

Rajnath Singh’s visit to the Tawang sector and his tribute to the soldiers at the Tawang War Memorial reaffirms the Indian government’s commitment to safeguarding its borders and honoring the sacrifice of its brave soldiers.
