Political Scion Nilesh Rane Announces Departure from Active Politics, Citing a Loss of Zeal

BJP Leader Nilesh Rane Steps Away from Active Politics, Citing a Lack of Interest

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the son of Union minister Narayan Rane, Nilesh Rane, made a surprising announcement on Tuesday, revealing his decision to step away from active politics. In a statement on social media, he expressed his lack of interest in pursuing a political career any further.

Rane, a former Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share his decision. He stated, “I am stepping aside from active politics, and there is no reason other than that I don’t feel like ruling anymore.” Rane acknowledged the immense support he received from the people in 2019-’20, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the BJP. He also mentioned the valuable political lessons he had learned and the lasting friendships he had made within the organization.

Rane went on to clarify that he had no intention of contesting elections in the future, indicating a firm departure from his political career. He acknowledged that critics would persist in criticizing him but emphasized his desire not to waste his time or that of others. In his social media post, he also extended an apology to those who may have faced inconvenience or offense due to any of his past actions.

Nilesh Rane’s decision to step away from politics is a significant development, considering his political lineage and involvement in various political parties. His brother, Nitesh N Rane, is the current Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Kankavli constituency in Maharashtra.

Rane’s political journey included being elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency in Maharashtra as a member of the Indian National Congress. However, he later joined the BJP after his 2014 election loss to Shiv Sena’s Vinayak Raut in the same constituency.

Nilesh Rane’s father, Narayan Rane, currently serves as the Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre. The departure of Nilesh Rane from active politics marks a shift in his family’s political legacy and leaves observers speculating on the reasons behind his decision.
