The national capital experienced a chilly Sunday morning as the minimum temperature dropped to 10.3°C, two degrees below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The dip in temperature was attributed to the return of cooler northwesterly winds, blowing at speeds of up to 15 km/h.
IMD officials stated that Delhi is expected to see a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures this week due to increased cloudiness and reduced wind speed. However, a fresh western disturbance is likely to bring light rainfall to the city on February 27 and 28.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality showed signs of improvement. The Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 138 (‘moderate’) at 9 am on Sunday, compared to 155 (‘moderate’) at the same time a day earlier. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classifies AQI levels between 101 and 200 as ‘moderate,’ while values above 200 indicate worsening air quality.
