“Farmer Leaders Declare Nationwide Campaign by SKM Against BJP”

SKM to Launch Nationwide Campaign Against BJP, Farmer Leaders Declare

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has announced plans for a widespread campaign against the policies of the BJP government, marking a continuation of their protest efforts. At a meeting in Rohtak attended by representatives from various farmer organizations, trade unions, and other groups, the decision was made to intensify their opposition through rallies and conventions across India.

Darshan Pal Singh, a prominent leader within SKM, emphasized the group’s commitment to implementing the directives outlined during the March 14 rally in Delhi. This includes organizing state-level conventions with diverse stakeholders such as trade unions, students, youth, women, and NGOs, with the aim of mobilizing support for mahapanchayats and rallies against the BJP.

SKM leaders, including Inderjit Singh, highlighted their strategy to collaborate with other mass organizations to address the challenges faced by farmers, laborers, government employees, youth, women, and other segments of society. They criticized the BJP government for allegedly dividing people along lines of caste, religion, and region, vowing to unite the populace against what they perceive as destructive policies and misuse of government agencies.

In a specific action plan, SKM leaders announced their intention to visit Bihar’s Chausa in Buxar, where farmers are protesting against land acquisition. A mahapanchayat is scheduled to take place there on April 10, signaling continued momentum in the farmers’ movement.

Joginder Nain, the state president of BKU (Nain), outlined further initiatives, stating that district-level meetings will be held nationwide to educate people about what they view as the Union government’s ‘misdeeds.’

The Punjab unit of SKM is set to hold a rally in Chandigarh on April 8 and in Jagraon on May 21, demanding legal guarantees for Minimum Support Prices (MSP) across all crops and advocating for debt waivers for farmers and laborers.
