Kerala, known for its lush landscapes and backwaters, is currently grappling with unrelenting rainfall as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issues yellow alerts for several districts. The downpour has triggered concerns and heightened vigilance across the state.
The IMD issued a ‘yellow alert’ for six out of Kerala’s 14 districts, including Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram. A ‘yellow alert’ signifies the likelihood of heavy rainfall ranging from 6 to 11 centimeters.
Further adding to the state’s woes, the IMD predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds in various areas. The regions expected to be impacted by these conditions include Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur.
The persistent rainfall and unpredictable weather patterns have raised concerns among residents and local authorities. Flooding, landslides, and other rain-related incidents can pose threats to both human lives and property.
