On his 73rd birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated in a unique and relatable way by taking a metro ride. The occasion was marked by the inauguration of the extension of the Airport Express line in Delhi’s Dwarka, an event that saw the Prime Minister engaging with passengers in a heartwarming manner.
Inside the metro, passengers had the opportunity to interact with PM Modi and extend their birthday wishes to him. In response, passengers sang “Happy Birthday Modi ji” and enthusiastically clicked selfies with the Prime Minister, capturing this memorable moment.
Notably, PM Modi also made the day special for the younger passengers by distributing chocolates to the children who greeted him warmly during the ride.
In addition to interacting with passengers, PM Modi took the time to speak with the staff of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) at the station.
The newly inaugurated high-speed corridor extends from Dwarka Sector 21 station to the Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 station, covering nearly 2 kilometers. This extension is a significant addition to Delhi’s metro network, connecting Dwarka Sector 21 with the India International Convention Centre. The DMRC shared that this expansion brings the total length of the Airport Express Line from New Delhi to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector-25 to 24.9 kilometers.
Following the inauguration of the Airport Express line, PM Modi proceeded to unveil the International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), also known as ‘Yashobhoomi’ in Dwarka. This sprawling convention center spans over 73,000 square meters and boasts 15 convention rooms, including the main auditorium, the grand ballroom, and 13 meeting rooms.
One of the highlights of the auditorium is its innovative automated seating system, which can transform a flat floor into an auditorium-style tiered seating arrangement, accommodating various event requirements.
PM Modi’s metro ride on his birthday was not only symbolic but also offered a delightful and unexpected experience for the passengers who shared this momentous day with the Prime Minister.
