Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Lakshadweep revealed a side of adventure as he delved into snorkelling, captivating the essence of the serene archipelago and emphasizing its cultural richness.
During his stay on January 2 and 3, PM Modi inaugurated the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection and laid the foundation stone for the renovation of primary healthcare facilities and five model Anganwadi centers. However, it was his foray into snorkelling that garnered attention, with the Prime Minister sharing his exhilarating experience on social media, urging adventure enthusiasts to add Lakshadweep to their bucket list.
“For those who wish to embrace the adventurer in them, Lakshadweep has to be on your list. During my stay, I also tried snorkelling – what an exhilarating experience it was!” PM Modi wrote, posting images donning a snorkel mask and life vest, capturing the vibrant underwater world of fish and coral reefs.
Reflecting on the tranquility and scenic allure of Lakshadweep, PM Modi shared a moment of introspection amid the islands’ beauty. “In addition to the scenic beauty, Lakshadweep’s tranquility is also mesmerising. It gave me an opportunity to reflect on how to work even harder for the welfare of 140 crore Indians,” he shared alongside a photograph from the serene beaches.
Expressing his awe at the islands’ beauty and the warmth of its people, the Prime Minister reminisced about his interactions in Agatti, Bangaram, and Kavaratti, thanking the locals for their hospitality. “My visit has been an enriching journey of learning and growing,” he remarked, emphasizing the timeless legacy of Lakshadweep’s traditions and the resilience of its people.
Addressing the developmental initiatives, PM Modi highlighted the government’s focus on uplifting lives through comprehensive progress. “Our focus in Lakshadweep is to uplift lives through enhanced development. It is about creating opportunities for better healthcare, faster internet, drinking water, and preserving the vibrant local culture,” he affirmed.
The visit wasn’t solely about inaugurating projects; PM Modi engaged with beneficiaries of various government schemes, expressing admiration for their inspiring life journeys. “It’s inspiring to see firsthand how these initiatives are fostering better health, self-reliance, women’s empowerment, improved agricultural practices, and more,” he remarked, acknowledging the impact of government schemes on the lives of the people.
