As the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj continues to attract massive crowds, a frustrated local has taken to social media to urge visitors to stop coming, claiming the city has reached its “breaking point.”
In a post on Reddit, the resident detailed how the overwhelming influx of devotees has made daily life unbearable. Despite infrastructural improvements, such as new roads and flyovers, the sheer volume of tourists has led to severe congestion, packed public transport, and chaos in even the smallest lanes.
“Now it’s 19th February. The last Amrit Snan is already done. We are literally in the ending phase of Mahakumbh. So, why the h*ll is the crowd only increasing instead of decreasing?” the user questioned.
The situation has reportedly worsened to the point where locals are being blamed for the congestion. Sharing a personal experience, the user said, “Yesterday, I thought, ‘Chalo, jo bacha-kucha hai, ghoom lete hain.’ Biggest mistake. I took my vehicle out, only to be stopped by random strangers yelling at me, saying, ‘Aap logon ki wajah se jam lag raha hai!’ Bruh, we live here.”
The post further criticized visitors for spitting, littering, and adding to the already chaotic traffic conditions.
In a desperate plea, the resident urged devotees to delay their trips, writing, “Please, for the love of God, STOP COMING. Ganga ji aur Sangam kahin nahi ja rahe. You can come peacefully later. Have some mercy on this city and its people. We are begging you.”
