A heart-stopping incident unfolded in Chennai’s Avadi area when an eight-month-old baby, Harin Magi, found herself in a perilous situation on a tin roof. The incident, captured in a viral video, showcases the intense moments as residents and onlookers rallied to save the infant.
The video, filmed from a nearby balcony, documents the baby’s precarious position on the edge of a roof cover on the second floor of a building. The infant had fallen from the fourth floor, landing on a sun-shade two floors below.
Horrified witnesses can be heard shouting for help as three brave individuals attempt to climb up from a first-floor window to rescue the child. Below, a group of people holds a bedsheet open, ready to catch the baby in case she falls. A mattress is strategically placed under the bedsheet to ensure the infant’s safety.
As the tension escalates, the baby inches closer to the edge of the roof cover, heightening the urgency of the rescue. One courageous man climbs out of the first-floor window, stands on the railing, and reaches out to grab the child. With the support of two others holding him steady, he successfully rescues the baby and passes her to safety inside the apartment.
Avadi Police Commissioner Shankar confirmed the authenticity of the incident, stating that it occurred at VGN Stafford, a residential community in Avadi. The baby fell while her mother, Ramya, was nursing her on the balcony.
“The child is doing fine,” Commissioner Shankar assured, highlighting the successful rescue and the relief felt by all involved. The incident serves as a reminder of the swift action and bravery displayed by individuals in times of crisis, ultimately ensuring the safety and well-being of the vulnerable.
