14 Children Suffer Electric Shock During Mahashivratri Procession in Kota, Rajasthan

In a distressing incident during a Mahashivratri procession in Kota, Rajasthan, fourteen children were reported to have suffered electric shock, according to the police. Among them, two are in critical condition, stated the state Health Minister Heeralal Nagar.

The affected children have been promptly admitted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, as confirmed by the authorities. Visuals captured at the hospital, disseminated by news agency ANI, depict the urgency with which medical personnel are attending to the injured children in the emergency rooms.

Expressing his concern over the incident, Health Minister Heeralal Nagar remarked, “It’s a very sad incident… Two children are seriously injured with one having 100 per cent burns. A special team has been formed to provide all possible treatment. Officials are directed to investigate if there has been any kind of negligence.”

Preliminary investigations suggest that a high-tension overhead power line might have caused the electric shock, as reported by news agency PTI. The severity of the injuries varied among the children, with two of them sustaining critical burns amounting to 50 per cent and 100 per cent, while the remaining suffered burns less than 50 per cent.

Authorities are actively involved in providing necessary medical assistance to the injured children, while also initiating an inquiry to ascertain any possible negligence that may have led to the unfortunate incident.
